Description

"This isn't a car to get you from A to B – it's a car that makes you forget where you were going."

When the MG A made its debut at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show, one thing was clear: MG had radically broken with the past. As the stylish successor to the MG TF 1500 Midget, this timeless beauty arrived with a completely new design – low and streamlined.

Thanks to the updated chassis, with the body mounted lower on the frame, the MG A handles with surprising precision and agility.

The model we are offering is the beloved 1600 Mark I – a more powerful and technically refined version. With 81 hp – made possible by larger valves, modified combustion chambers, and a revised differential for longer gearing – this roadster delivers smooth and comfortable performance, even at higher speeds.

Since its arrival in the Netherlands in 2016, this MG A has undergone a thorough overhaul. The previous owner quickly realised that only a complete restoration would do, and chose to do it right from the start. Both the engine and gearbox have been rebuilt, and several subtle upgrades were made to enhance driving pleasure. The restoration has been extensively documented with photos of the paintwork and mechanical work.

Fun fact: only 8,198 units of this open-top version were built worldwide, making it a rare gem for true enthusiasts.

Can you already picture yourself cruising with the cap on, wind in your face, and a smile that just won’t go away?

We’d be delighted to help make that dream a reality.
