1959 MG A Twincam Roadster - National Concours 1st
Description
There are two stand out MGA Twin Cams that we have sold in over 30 years of selling classic cars and this is one of them. We sold the car to a North East Scotland based collector and prior to that, in 2019 a North Yorkshire based collector who kept the car as part of an impressive large classic car collection of around 40 vehicles. . When we sold the car the first time, it was driven across the North Yorkshire Moors for a personal viewing and has always been a top class driving car. When we prepared it for its most recent owner, the brakes were fully overhauled and the car has proven completely faultless throughout recent ownership. When it first arrived with us in 2019 it came as no surprise that it had won numerous awards including winning 1st prize at the National MGA event.
This outstanding show piece is finished in Connaught Green with a Cream leather upholstery. The car started life in the US and was brought over to the UK in 1999. It was purchased in 2008 in need of restoration and Bob West and his team were commissioned to take a on a full chassis up restoration to the highest of standards. Final tuning to the engine was carried out by Peter Burgess in Derbyshire before going back on the road in 2011 and the car stayed with this owner through to 2019 when he approached us to find a new home for the car.
Since 2011 and the completion of the rebuild, the MGA has covered almost 4500 miles and it drives perfectly. The car is quick with impressive performance, the steering and handling are lovely and tight, the car is quite simply first class on the road having been superbly rebuilt. The engine is first class with correct oil pressure, the all syncro gearbox is excellent and the car is truly exceptional on the road in every respect.
CSL 513 has had an accurate and authentic restoration and eleven years on since completion still presents beautifully. The bodywork is stunning with beautiful panel gaps, the panels are first class, the chassis exceptional and the underneath of the car is incredibly clean, detailed and ready to show. The paintwork is first class with a glass finish, the chrome work is gleaming, the engine bay and boot show standard and the weather equipment and interior are in excellent order. This really is a fabulous all-round package and will not disappoint. Purchasing a Twin Cam and restoring it will cost well in excess of our asking price, this is an excellent opportunity to buy one of the very best. These highly desirable cars were low in production, just 1801 Twin Cam Roadsters were ever built and including Coupe's, 2111 were MGA Twin Cams came off the production line making these cars very collectable.
