Description

Hey, I’m Kevin, 36 years young, and my love for Mercedes-Benz was basically handed down to me at birth. Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of owning a W124 – and at 20, I finally made that dream come true with my C124 320CE, which I still own and take great care of today. For more than 15 years, I’ve been traveling across Germany to Mercedes meets, restoring countless W124s myself and developing a deep understanding of the series – including all its little quirks and weak spots.

Last year, a friend of my wife offered me this sedan – originally her father’s car. He’s retired and could no longer drive it for health reasons. One look, and I knew right away: this one’s a gem! An untouched, original W124 200E in Astral Silver Metallic (code 735) with a genuine 72,000 km. I simply couldn’t say no.

But two classics are one too many, especially since we also bought a caravan last year – another hobby that takes both time and money. So, I’m reluctantly letting this one go. This isn’t a forced sale or a rush – the car is paid for, perfectly fine, and will stay with me until someone comes along who truly appreciates it.

Facts:

Mercedes-Benz W124 200E

First registered: 03/1990

Color: Astral Silver Metallic (Code 735)

Interior: Fabric gray (Code 078)

Engine: M102, 1,997 cc, 118 hp, 4-speed automatic (Economy/Sport mode)

MOT & Historic plate valid until 03/2026

I’m the 4th owner (previous: priest → Mercedes mechanic → friend’s father → me)

Equipment:

Central locking, electric sunroof, center armrest, heated driver’s mirror, electrically adjustable passenger mirror, pneumatic rear headrests, heated rear window, 8-hole alloy wheels with all-season tires (195/65 R15 91H), original steel wheels with classic W124 hubcaps (without tires).

Original Becker Avus radio (needs refurbishing) + Becker Special BE2210, professionally retrofitted by Mercedes and fully functional.

Interior with original full rubber steering wheel and shift lever, both showing far less wear than you’d expect for 72,000 km. The Zebrano wood trim still shines a deep reddish tone – no cracks, no fading, just beautiful.

Condition & Care:

Unmodified, garage-kept, matching numbers. Engine bay spotless – every corner clean. The engine runs smoother than a Swiss watch – honestly, even better. My daily Ford Edge with similar mileage looks far more used.

Of course, it’s still a 30-year-old car. If you expect new-car perfection, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for a genuinely preserved, exceptionally well-maintained original example – this is your car.

History & Documents:

The first owner was a Catholic priest who used it for parish errands and to drive nuns around. To this day, a Saint Christopher medallion – the patron saint of travelers – sits on the glovebox. I’m not religious, but I’ve never removed it. The car’s never had an accident – maybe he really does his job 😉.

Comprehensive documentation from new, with many service invoices (front windshield replacement, head gasket, timing cover and valve cover gaskets, gearbox oil service, and more). All records can be viewed in person.

Body & Structure:

No fairy tales about being “100% rust-free,” but the jacking points, spare wheel well, suspension mounts, and axles are in excellent condition – far better than most I’ve seen, including my own coupé.

Viewing & Price:

VIN available upon request. Inspection on a lift (TÜV or workshop) possible. Test drives only for serious buyers with valid license and insurance.

A little bonus:

I’ll personally guarantee that you’ll get compliments at nearly every gas station – I’ve had countless pump-side conversations this past year 😄

Long story short: come by, take a look, fall in love – and drive it home.

Best regards,

Kevin
