Description
This first class restored Mercedes Benz 220 A Cabriolet of the series W187 comes from a very important private collection. Like the majority of the vehicles in the collection, this 220 has been conserved.
As part of an extensive restoration, the original white paint was removed down to the sheet metal. The paintwork was then repainted from scratch in black. The interior of the convertible also received new leather. The green leather has a subtle patina which gives the interior an attractive character. The convertible top has been completely renewed and is in immaculate condition, inside and out.
A special eye-catcher of the convertible are the rear-hinged doors, colloquially also called "self-mounted doors".
Chrome parts, paint and the technical components are in very good condition and have been partially renewed and overhauled.
For enthusiasts who would like to show this 220 A Cabriolet at rallies, or take it out for a drive on a sunny weekend, we can make the car roadworthy at any time.

History of the series
The Mercedes Benz 220 W187 was introduced at the 1951 Paris Motor Show. What was special about the 220 was the bodywork, which was still very much in the style of the pre-war period. However, the technology and the chassis convinced the trade press with significantly better driving performance in contrast to the 170 S with its 52 hp. The newly developed M 180 engine was the first short-stroke post-war engine from Mercedes Benz. The 6-cylinder in-line engine with 2,195 cc developed a proud 80 hp, allowing a top speed of 140 km/h. From 1954, the Coupé and A Cabriolet received a higher-compression, more powerful engine with 85 hp.
