Description

Auto Storica is pleased to announce the sale of this Maserati Indy 4900

The trident brand's response to customers demanding a fast, comfortable, and spacious car like the Mexico, but with the sportiness of the Ghibli, arrived in 1969. The new model was named Indy, in homage to the Maserati 8CTF's victories at the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940.

Virginio Vairo, under the Vignale umbrella, was the architect of its silhouette. A long, wedge-shaped front end to shelter the bulky mechanics, a higher roofline than the Ghibli to offer more headroom for rear passengers, and a trunk with more than acceptable capacity for four adults. Everything was designed to travel long distances in the shortest possible time.

The Indy was offered with three types of engines, all V8s, with the one fitted to our protagonist being the rarest and most powerful, as for three years, from 1972 to 1975, only 300 examples of the Indy 4900 were built.

A 4931cc V8 producing 300 hp, sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed ZF manual transmission. An engine that has been completely rebuilt in our facilities, ready to once again reach the 290 km/h that Maserati announced at the time of its presentation.

And not only has its engine been fully restored, the entire car has undergone a thorough inspection, checking the suspension, chassis, brakes, and all key components, so your only concern is cruising the highways of Europe enjoying the unparalleled exclusivity of this exotic Italian Gran Turismo.

Have you been overcome with an uncontrollable urge to travel? Don't worry, it's normal. By the way, the Maserati Indy is waiting for you..
