Description

The Lagonda 2.6 Drophead Coupe, also known as the DHC, was the first car to be produced by Lagonda after the company was purchased by David Brown, the then owner of Aston Martin. Produced between 1948 and 1951 in the form of a saloon, coupe and drophead, the Lagonda was known to be very well engineered at the time and featured a 2.6 litre twin-overhead cam straight six engine, independent front and rear suspension, as well as a rack-and-pinion steering system.

This beautiful example was registered on 2nd July 1951 and presents well in silver and blue coachwork. This rare example benefitted from a comprehensive restoration between 2001 to 2006 and was undertaken by Gavin Lumsden, a known restorer of post-war Rileys and it was a complete body-off procedure. The soft-top, in dark blue, was also totally restored and the interior of the car has benefitted from being retrimmed in white with blue piping. There are only a limited number of bills that have survived, however there is a good photographic record of the restoration. The car runs and drives very well and has also recently received a new floor mounted gearbox conversion (replacing the column mounted system) supplied by Aston Services. Overall, the car is in very good condition and has been well cared for during its years of ownership. Consigned by Dominic Lake
