Description

The Mustang was the brainchild of Ford's Assistant General Manager Lee Iacocca and is considered the first 'Pony Car', setting the benchmark for many more to follow. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on 9th March 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on 17th April 1964. The new model was extraordinarily popular, selling over one million units in its first 18 months. Ford kept the price at $2,368, making the car extremely affordable, and by extension, popular. The Mustang was offered as a hardtop coupe and convertible until September 1964; it was the later 'fastback' that drew the interest of Carroll Shelby, extending the iconic reach of the Ford Mustang and firmly put it into the category of motoring legends.

This lovely convertible example was imported from California by its previous keeper in 2000. He had it restored by a marque specialist 'Dream Cars' in Milton, with new Nightmist Blue paintwork, hood, chrome and interior trim, plus all UK registration costs as well. Based in Brecon, he had the car serviced, maintained and MoT'd locally. The service history and its history from across the pond, is available in its history file. Our vendors' father purchased the Mustang in 2020 and continued to keep it well-maintained and used regularly - including being featured in the 2023 caper Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny! Sadly, he passed away early last year and his son and daughter have now entrusted us with the sale of his beloved Mustang. Consigned by Charlie McCreery

Interested parties should note that, contrary to the catalogue description, this car will be sold with the private registration 666 PJO.
