Description

The Ferrari BB (which stands for Berlinetta Boxer) was in production between 1973 and 1984. It was the first Ferrari with a mid-mounted flat-12 engine, replacing the front engined Daytona. Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti during his Pininfarina period, the car was quite a big change for Ferrari. A mid-engined road car was considered too difficult to handle for normal road use, and for that reason it took many years for the engineers to convince Enzo Ferrari to use this layout for a road car. Due to the increasing success of the mid-engined competition cars, the BB was finally ready in the early seventies. After 11 years of production, the BB/BBi was succeeded by the Testarossa.

The car we have on offer is a beautiful original car, in immaculate and unrestored condition. It has an unusual story : it was bought new in Geneva by a Russian client who had it registered on a Swiss numberplate but never took delivery as he wished to give it as a gift to an acquaintance. However this plan did not come to fruition and the car remained with the dealer without being driven until 1984. Put up for sale once more, it came to the attention of a haulier from Lugano. He used the car very little and sold the car to the second owner, a Swiss collector. He used the Ferrari sparingly and kept this thoroughbred in completely original condition. In 2015, the Ferrari came in the possession of the third and last owner.

This BBi has only 8.745 km on the clocks, and is presented in original unmolested but magnificent condition. The interior is as new, with impeccable grey-striped beige seats. Event the original plastic covers as per new delivery are still on the door sills. The exterior in Rosso Corsa presents a beautiful paintwork without any faults and the wheels are completely free of any knocks and marks. The front compartment still houses the original toolkits (still in the plastic as well) and spare wheel, and all books and manuals are also still present. It is extremely rare to come across this type of Ferrari with such low mileage and in such well preserved condition. It is safe to say this must be one of the best 512 BBi currently on the market - possibly the best.

This time capsule is a proper collectors car which ticks all the right boxes : low mileage, immaculate condition and of course the glorious flat-12 engine. A once in a lifetime opportunity to obtain a very special 512 BBi !
