There are Ferraris that you recognize instantly. The 308 GTS is undoubtedly one of them. Even people with little interest in cars can often identify this Ferrari immediately. Much of that comes down to its proportions. The low nose, the crisp Pininfarina lines, and the removable Targa roof come together to create a design that remains remarkably fresh, even after all these years.
When Ferrari introduced the 308, the marque once again turned to Pininfarina for the styling. Beneath the elegant bodywork, much remained reassuringly familiar, with the V8 serving as the beating heart of the car. Compact, eager to rev, and full of character, it was an engine perfectly suited to the personality of the 308. Combined with the car's relatively light weight and a manual transmission, it created exactly the kind of driving experience Ferrari had envisioned during that era.
Not long afterward, the GTS followed, featuring the now-iconic removable roof panel. While this did little to alter the fundamental character of the 308, it transformed the driving experience. Remove the roof, listen to the V8 directly behind you, and simply enjoy the drive. Sometimes, it really doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.
The example we are offering is finished in Grigio Ferro, beautifully complemented by a Pelle Marrone leather interior. It is a color combination you do not encounter every day, yet one that perfectly accentuates the elegant lines of the 308. Sophisticated, timeless, and entirely appropriate for a Ferrari of this caliber.
This 308 GTS was comprehensively restored and meticulously rebuilt by a renowned Dutch Ferrari specialist. The previous owner wanted the Ferrari exactly as he envisioned it and never allowed budget considerations to dictate the outcome. That dedication is evident throughout the restoration. Great attention was devoted not only to the mechanical aspects but also to the smallest details. Even the mechanism for the removable roof received the care and precision it deserves. It is precisely these details that ultimately distinguish an exceptional restoration from an ordinary one. The beautifully finished bodywork, excellent panel fit, outstanding paintwork, and correct wheels all contribute to an exceptionally refined presentation.
Then there is the interior. Take a close look at the leather seats. Then the carpeting. Finally, examine the quality of the finishing throughout the cabin. Often, you need look no further to understand what kind of car you are dealing with. True quality is rarely found in a single dramatic feature; it lies in the way every element comes together as one harmonious whole. The accompanying documentation tells an equally compelling story. The original service booklet is still present, complemented by an extensive file of invoices that provides a comprehensive overview of the work carried out over the years.
