Description

1963 Bentley S3 Continental James Young Flying Spur
Chassis Number: BC64XA
Registration Number: AJN569A
Supplied new in February of 1963 to Sir Leon Bagrit, a leading British industrialist & leader in the field of automation. This example is one of 13 such cars produced to this design by James Young of Bromley & wears body number 5239.
The car has covered a scant 78,889 warranted miles from new backed up by MOT certificates & service bills. Indeed a massive service history comes with the car attesting to the vast amounts spent upon it over the years to keep it in tip top conditon.
The car is finished in unmarked Dawn Blue; a colour that suits the car admirably being quite restrained in keeping with it being a Bentley rather then a Rolls Royce. To the interior is original pale blue leather again in simply lovely condition along with refinished burr walnut to the dash board. Under dash air conditioning has been installed & blows ice cold ready for the summer months. The car also has a huge Webasto sunroof that slides easily open & comes with an original set of operating instructions from Webasto. Royal blue Wilton carpeting is found under foot. The rear window lights are of tinted glass installed by James Young after delivery upon the first owners request. The original handbook also comes with the car as does its original tool kit found in the boot.
On the road the car is a joy to drive befitting the moniker "Continental". It is silent & powerful with the fully rebuilt engine giving ample performance, allied to seamless gear changes. It devours miles with aplomb at speeds far in excess of those allowed in the UK should it be called upon to do so on Continental journeys.
The car resided for many years in a prominent collection where it was little used & has kept the mileage covered to date very low. The current owner whom has spent considerable sums on it now wishes to part with it from his collection of a dozen or so significant Rolls Royce & Bentley Motor cars. It may be viewed by prior appointment Near Folkestone in Kent.
