Description

This Austin Healey has come to us from a long term customer in Scotland and boasts a very impressive specification that would prove incredibly expensive to replicate. 416 UYP presents beautifully throughout and is mechanically excellent having had serious expenditure essentially across three stages of major restoration throughout its life. Firstly going back to its origins, the car 100/6 was manufactured on the 23rd-28th January 1958 and supplied new by a Los Angeles dealership equipped with overdrive, heater and wire wheels. A true California car, the Healey arrived in the UK in 1990 and was professionally converted to RHD with a 3000 spec steering box, the original matching numbers engine was completely stripped down, rebored to 3000cc and rebuilt with new pistons, crank re-grind, new cam followers, new valve guides and the gearbox was stripped down and rebuilt. The Healey was fitted with a new exhaust system and whilst mechanically overhauled. The next stage of its restoration was in 2013-2016 with the car completely dismantled with the body off. The Healey chassis was completely renewed, new outriggers and the body totally rebuilt with new rear wings, sills, floor pans and rear bulkhead. Brand new alloy front wings were also fitted to the car, all new weather equipment to include sidescreens, hood and frame and tonneau were fitted, the upholstery re-trimmed and a new wheels and tyres fitted. The bodywork and chassis were all completely re-painted and the car beautifully built up.

The Healey was registered and on the road by 2016 but from 2019 for personal preference, the interior was re-trimmed again, a tubular exhaust manifold fitted and a front brake discs conversion fitted. The most recent owner continued with upgrades to include an alloy sump, aluminium radiator, alloy rocker cover, aluminium fuel tank, LED lights, stainless steel exhaust and some cosmetic improvements such as new boot liner and front bumper. Since restoration the Healey has covered around 11,000 miles and it drives superbly, the engine is strong and fit with excellent oil pressure, the overdrive gearbox is lovely and smooth and the car handles very well. A great deal of time and money has gone into the rebuild which has been documented superbly well with receipts and photo record, and the more recent upgrades enhance the quality of the car, and driving experience ensuring real confidence.

Cosmetically the Healey 100/6 is very sharp, the under body presents beautifully with its nicely painted chassis, the Healey Ice Blue over Cream paintwork has a stunning, deep gleam to it and the bodywork is perfectly straight with lovely clean panels. The engine bay is clean and well presented, as is the boot compartment. The interior is gorgeous with lovely leather upholstery, excellent carpets, very smart dashboard with excellent switch gear and all the weather equipment is lovely. This is a fabulous Austin Healey for touring, weekend events and it's a car that can be driven with confidence. On the road its fantastic, the quality of the drive, and impressive paperwork confirm its recent owners have restored, improved and upgraded the car with no expense spared.
