Trade-in car.

Some collectors look only for rare cars. Others seek out automobiles that have something meaningful to say from a technical perspective. This Audi comes from a German V.A.G. collection assembled by an enthusiast with a very distinct personal taste. Not a collection filled exclusively with expensive sports cars or obvious classics, but with cars that mattered because they introduced something progressive, such as this Audi 100 Quattro.

The third generation of the Audi 100 was introduced in 1982 and looked completely different from its predecessor. While many large sedans of the period were still decidedly angular, the C3 received a smooth, almost streamlined body. Its lines were clean, and even details such as the door handles were designed with aerodynamic efficiency in mind. The result was a drag coefficient of approximately 0.30 for the base versions. Today, that figure may sound somewhat dated. In 1982, however, it was genuinely forward-thinking. Vorsprung durch Technik, indeed. And in this Audi, that philosophy extended far beyond the bodywork.

Under the hood is a five-cylinder engine. Not as smooth as a six-cylinder, and not as conventional as a four-cylinder. A five-cylinder has a rhythm entirely its own. You immediately hear that something different is happening. Calm at low rpm, then increasingly assertive as you ask more of it.

The engine is paired with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. During the 1980s, that system gave Audi a completely distinct technical identity. This was not a car that preferred to stay indoors when the weather turned bad, but a large sedan that simply distributed its power across all four wheels. There is no need to wait for snow to appreciate it. A wet corner is enough to understand why Audi was so proud of the system.

This example dates from 1990 and therefore belongs to one of the final model years of the C3 generation. The car is finished in Zyclamrot Metallic, a color that suits the long, smooth lines of the body beautifully. Not bright red. Not quite burgundy either. Rather, it is precisely the kind of color that makes you reconsider what you are actually looking at every time the light changes.

This is an honest, tidy, and well-cared-for car for an enthusiast who understands why an Audi 100 Quattro is so interesting. A car with real character and impressive engineering. The documentation is complete. The original manuals are present, including the familiar “V.A.G. Service Plan for Audi.”

A 1990 Audi 100 Quattro from a German V.A.G. collection, finished in Zyclamrot Metallic and powered by its characteristic five-cylinder engine. Interested? Contact Gallery Aaldering today and discover this Audi for yourself.
