“La Dolce Vita”. Only Italians can utter phrases that sound like a melody. Your mind wanders to a sun-drenched spot in Italy or on the French Riviera, where you gaze out over the Mediterranean Sea and watch the bobbing sailboats whilst sipping a glass of Pinot Grigio. Ah, the sweet life…

This dreamy scene must surely have formed the basis for the concept model of the 8C Spider. Alfa Romeo presented the near-final model in 2006 in the gardens of Villa d’Este; the final production version arrived two years later. Maserati was responsible for the car’s production, which is largely made of carbon fibre to reduce weight. Carbon-ceramic brake discs ensure substantial deceleration, time and time again. Ferrari provided the powertrain. Under the bonnet lies a 4.7-litre V8, which is essentially the same as the engine in the F430. The gearbox also comes straight from Ferrari. You can feel it, you can hear it. It makes the 8C Spider desirable and exclusive, if only because of the limited production run of just 385 units for the Spider version. Only a handful made it to the Netherlands.

It is therefore quite special to be able to offer an original Dutch example, all the more so because the car has had just one owner. He collected the car in person from the factory and drove it back to the Netherlands. The Celeste colour does the car full justice. It is a unique colour, because although it was part of the standard palette, most Spiders are offered in white, black or red. The light blue colour makes the car both sporty and stylish, especially in combination with the dark brown interior and the dark brown, electrically operated soft top. On the side panels we find the famous Quadrofoglio logos, which were selected as an option and neatly painted under the clear coat. The ‘Disco Telefonico’ wheels, so characteristic of Alfa Romeo, complete the car’s look.
The odometer reads 19,527 kilometres. All these kilometres have been driven by the first and only owner. It goes without saying, therefore, that the car comes complete with all its booklets and history. The condition is excellent: you can hardly tell from looking at the car that it has been driven.

Alfa Romeo 8C Spiders are regularly offered for sale, but this car is in a class of its own. The colour, the appearance and, of course, the history: everything is just right. This is a car that exudes what Italians call ‘sprezzatura’. You are warmly invited to come and see it for yourself.
