He smokes a Dunhill pipe, fishes with a Hardy rod, shoots with a Purdey gun and drives an AC Aceca. The cost of an AC is of course higher, but so is the performance, the quality and the standard of craftsmanship. Another Connoisseur. AC.
We can't put it much better than the quote above. An absolutely unique Gentleman's Tourer, totally formed by hand, made of aluminium, born in West Norwood. This is one of the few cars you don't have to drive to already fall totally in love with....
As soon as you get in, an 'abundance' of pampered-cow hides, genuine chrome yet understated beauty comes at you. Turn the key, press the start button and... catch yourself in a childlike chuckle. How competent the AC is at warming a lovers heart!
The 2.0-litre 6-in-line, fed by 3 SUs, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. She likes driving below 3,500 revs best, preferably from deep below with a lovely dark roar leading up to 'somewhat higher' revs. The gearbox has synchromesh gears, but totally fits the picture of relaxing and enjoying. You offer the gear, it is accepted within (acceptable) time. Then to think that the AC used to win races. Those were very patient races!
Ours? As it should be. Equipped with a Certificate of Heritage; Total matching, Delivered to Mr K. Jefferson in Warwickshire on 15/11/1955. One of only 151 ever built with its own AC engine block. Recently completely rebuilt and re-tracked by Auto Classica Rubbio in Nederhorst Den Berg. Totally matching, in original colours, only bumpers removed in the process. Sorry Weller brothers; but that makes it even more beautiful! Now looking for a new enthusiast, who besides petting and caring for, also likes to regularly drive a good 'mate' round.
See you soon!
