Beschreibung

Born to fight giants, this is your chance to get behind the wheel of a highly competitive and championship winning NSU TT racecar.

This 1967 NSU TT combines classic German touring-car character with remarkable performance. Originally developed from the modest Prinz family car, the high-performance TT variant quickly transcended its humble origins. During the 1970s, the NSU TT earned legendary status as the "giant killer" of European grassroots motorsport. Driven by exceptional rear-engine traction, agility, and rather aggressive modifications by type experts like Siegfried Spiess, the TT and its TTS sibling became a dominant force across multiple racing disciplines not only on circuits but also in numerous local slalom, time-trial and hill-climb events. Its signature rear setup—characterized by a transverse-mounted air-cooled engine and often a propped-open rear trunk lid for maximum cooling air flow became an icon of low displacement touring car racing in the late 1960s and 1970s.

The particular example offered here is powered by an naturally aspirated 1.3 liter competition engine producing around 140-145 horsepower to the rear wheels and offers an impressive racing pedigree of its own. For an air-cooled inline-four of this displacement, pushing over 100 horsepower per liter represents a remarkable state of tune, utilizing optimized carburation and free-flowing race exhaust manifolds. Driven by Danish racer Henrik Haase, it won the prestigious German "Kampf der Zwerge" championship in 2023, securing the title across the strongly contested five-race season. As a precaution following its championship-winning campaign, the engine was fitted with new valve guides and connecting-rod bearing shells, helping preserve its proven performance and reliability.

Its unassisted rack-and-pinion-steering combined with the light weight of just about 630 kg makes for an unfiltered, very responsive and direct connection to the tarmac below. This exceptional power-to-weight ratio allows the lightweight coupe to accelerate out of tight corners with astounding eagerness, effortlessly keeping pace with far higher-displacement vehicles.

The small racer out of Neckarsulm has a FIVA (Federation International des Vehicules Anciens) passport and is therefore ready to compete against Mini Coopers, Abarths, Simca Rallyes and similar challengers punching above their weight in series like the KW Bergcup hill-climb championship or the previously mentioned Kampf der Zwerge historic touring car series. Fitted with safety equipment compliant with vintage racing regulations, it represents a turn-key opportunity for historic motorsport enthusiasts looking to experience one Germany’s most revered touring car icons in action on track.
