If in the sixties you wanted a luxury saloon with sportscar performance, you could not ignore the Jaguar MkII. With over 200 hp they were very quick and comfortable cars back then. Unsurprisingly they were the vehicle of choice for the English police force in order to match the those used by the criminal fraternity. And who can forget Inspector Morse’s marvellous MkII.

This lovely light blue MkII is an original Dutch supplied 1962 car. During its over 60 years life it has had but a handful of owners. This car was neatly restored in the past and still looks good.

The bodywork is straight with neat alignment and nice paintwork. It is quite clear the car has always been lavished with care by enthusiasts. The brightwork gleams and the ‘Jag’ has lovely looking wire wheels. The car’s general appearance is thanks to the fine and light paintwork very nice, especially when seen in the sunshine.

The car’s interior is just as characteristic. Lovely woodwork on the dash, doors and window pillars. It gives the MkII the kind of cachet not easily found in this particular price range. The black leather upholstery is in a very healthy state and feels supple. This is the kind of interior that entices you in. The lovely aroma of used materials makes it all so welcoming With your hand loosely on the stylish Moto-Lita steering wheel and your sight set on the many Smiths gauges and toggles there is only one thing for it: Drive!

The previous owners clearly had time to look after the moving parts quite well, going by the appearance of the neat engine bay. What a stunning engine block goes hidden beneath the bonnet of this Jaguar. The powerful straight-six performs as good as it looks and without fail. The manual gearbox and throaty roar encourage you to a sporty manner of driving. Everything points to this six-cylinder having lots of power and torque allowing you to drive the car exactly as the mood takes you. Any good MkII has impeccable handling as does this blue example. Driving this large but compact feeling cat really comes alive on long winding country roads. The suspension and responsive brakes adding their contribution to the car’s overall safe handling. We are always pleasantly surprised every time we step into one these MkII’s with just how versatile these stylish classics are.

Underneath this Jaguar is also sound. The car comes with the necessary invoices and documents. The invoices are stamped with manes of recognised experts and show maintenance was not stinted upon. This is a car for the enthusiast who not only loves to polish his or hers proud possession but also enjoys lots of time on the road.
