The first generation Ford Mustang was produced by Ford from March 1964 to 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of cars known as pony cars. The Mustang's styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved enormously popular and inspired a host of competition.

It was introduced on April 17, 1964 in hardtop and convertible versions, with the fastback version following in August 1964. At its introduction, the Mustang, which shared its platform with the Falcon, was included in the compact car segment.

With each overhaul, the Mustang grew in overall size and engine power. The 1971 model underwent a drastic redesign. After an initial surge, sales steadily declined as Ford began work on a new generation Mustang. With the onset of the 1973 oil crisis, Ford was prepared, having already designed the smaller Mustang II for the 1974 model year. This new car shared no components with previous models.

The model shown here is an 8 cylinder version with the 289 engine. The car has been extensively restored and is in very good condition. The color combination is also very nice, dark red with red artificial leather upholstery. Furthermore, the car is very original and equipped with an automatic gearbox.
