Description

The Aston Martin Cygnet was a unique departure for the luxury car brand, introduced in 2011. Unlike Aston Martin's usual sleek, high-performance sports cars, the Cygnet was a compact city car based on the Toyota iQ. It was an attempt to offer an urban-friendly vehicle to meet emissions regulations in Europe and offer Aston Martin customers a smaller, more economical option for city driving. The model has since become quite rare and iconic due to it's small production numbers.

Despite its shared platform with the Toyota iQ, the Cygnet featured significant modifications and luxury upgrades, both in its interior and exterior. The interior boasted premium materials, handcrafted finishes, and customizable options, aiming to provide a luxurious feel in a compact city car.

From the outside, the Cygnet maintained certain Aston Martin design elements, including its distinctive front grille, although its small size made it stand out from the brand's more traditional, larger vehicles.

However, the Cygnet didn't gain as much traction in the market as Aston Martin had hoped, at the time. Its high price tag compared to other city cars of similar size, due to its luxury branding and bespoke customization options, led to limited sales.

In 2013, Aston Martin announced the discontinuation of the Cygnet, ending its brief production run. Though it wasn't a commercial success, the Cygnet remains a curiosity in Aston Martin's history - a departure from their usual offerings, reflecting an attempt to diversify their lineup and cater to a different segment of the market.

The Cygnet serves as a reminder of the challenges of branching out into new vehicle categories for established luxury car manufacturers, highlighting the complexities of balancing brand identity, market demand, and pricing in the automotive industry.

This rare example is in very good condition with under 35,000 miless from new.
