As many as 14(!) designo leather colors were available for the SLK in 1997/98 - for a hefty surcharge of DM 2,300 compared to the normal leather, of course. And so most of the vehicles went over the counter with the normal leather upholstery at most, without designo. Not so our car offered to a customer - the Swiss customer not only opted for designo leather upholstery, but also for the even rarer roll bars upholstered in designo leather for DM 1,207.50. And he didn't order one of the "normal" upholstery colors red or blue, no, he ordered the combination in green!
The charisma of the 230 Kompressor together with the obsidian black exterior color and the AMG appearance package with 17" AMG wheels (both ex works!) is amazing.
So, get in, start the engine, open the roof, insert the CD, set the sound system, set the automatic transmission to "D" and step on the gas. From around 2,000 rpm, the supercharger kicks in with a noticeable and audible screech and accelerates the small car (1,335 kg) inimitably. At some point, the airstream, together with the engine, is louder than Mick Jagger and then, at the latest, it's no longer just driving, but "driving your dream"!
