We have the pleasure of presenting this extremely authentic W111 generation 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Coupé 3.5, a European supplied car from new. The first owner ordered the car in a beautiful marriage of white exterior with red leather interior trim and red carpets. Add to that the automatic transmission and sun roof and all seems well in this refined German upper crust Coupé. The external white has had a cosmetic respray. The work was carried out to a high standard and still shows off a deep lustre with minimal signs of use. In recent times the car has only been used on a recreational base and kept in a heated garage. The latter has benefitted the paintwork, bodywork and underside, leaving them in a great shape. The car has retained the original steel rims and hubcaps and is shod in correctly sized good quality tyres.
Inside has the appearance of being a perfectly preserved time capsule. The fully original fine leather is delightfully supple with especially the driver’s seat having developed a fine patina. An interior that most certainly deserved to be preserved. The original headlining is in a good state. The original factory fitted carpets also are in fine condition. The transmission is a steering wheel mounted affair. The rest of the fully authentic gauges and switching gear all work as they should.
The W111 has the renowned 3.8 V8 engine. The maintenance over the years has been so good that this Mercedes-Benz has lost none of its charming road handling. The engine runs smoothly as does the shock-free movement of its automatic. The suspension is there for comfort and irons out any significant unevenness in the road. The responsive brakes slow the car down with comfortable firmness.
