The Lancia Flaminia GT Touring ranks among the most elegant Italian grand tourers of the 1960s. Introduced in 1957 as the successor to the Aurelia, the Flaminia became Lancia's flagship model. Alongside the saloon, exclusive versions were created by Pininfarina, Touring and Zagato. The Flaminia GT, designed and built by Milan-based Carrozzeria Touring, is today regarded as one of the most desirable versions.
Introduced in 1959, the Flaminia GT Touring was distinguished by its elegant two-seater bodywork, long bonnet and refined proportions. Touring employed its famous Superleggera construction, in which aluminium body panels were mounted on a lightweight tubular framework. The result was a relatively lightweight and exceptionally stylish Italian grand tourer.
This example belongs to the early Flaminia GT Touring versions equipped with the 2.5-litre V6 and a single carburettor. Only 868 coupés were produced in this particular configuration. The more powerful GT 3C with three carburettors and the GT 2.8 followed later. Thanks to their limited production, exclusive coachwork and historical significance, these models are highly sought after by collectors of classic Italian sports cars.
Under the bonnet is a liquid-cooled 2,458 cc Lancia V6 petrol engine, Type 823.10, equipped with a single Solex C 35 carburettor. This V6 builds upon the innovative engine technology first introduced by Lancia with the Aurelia. Combined with the Type 824.10 four-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, it provides a refined and authentic driving experience.
An important historical detail is that the current engine, bearing number 13748, is not the original engine fitted to this chassis. It originates from a Flaminia version originally equipped with three carburettors, but is currently fitted with a single Solex C 35 carburettor. The four-speed manual gearbox bears number 1347. These details form part of the individual technical history of the vehicle.
The distinctive Azzurro Hyperion colour scheme with a dark blue roof beautifully highlights the elegant lines of the Touring Superleggera bodywork. The car has undergone a professional restoration, during which the bodywork was repainted and, according to the inspection report, is in excellent condition. The interior has also been restored, with carpets in very good condition. The underside remains in good condition following an older restoration, although several technical points require attention.
The documentation file includes Swiss registration documents, an E705 document for Belgian customers, restoration records, maintenance invoices and a valuation report.
With its rare 2.5-litre single-carburettor configuration, exclusive Superleggera coachwork, distinctive two-tone paintwork and professional restoration, this 1962 Lancia Flaminia GT Touring is an attractive Italian classic. As one of only 868 coupés produced in this early configuration, it represents a remarkable chapter in the collaboration between Lancia and Carrozzeria Touring.
