This magnificent Austin Healey 3000 Mk III boasts unique features that make it interesting both from a collectible perspective and for its driving pleasure and safety.
The restoration, carried out by us a few years ago, encompassed every component of the car. The chassis, including the inside of the side members, and the bodywork were treated to protect each part from oxidation. The paint job was carried out using the original ICI brand nitro-based paint, exactly as it was done at the factory. This gives the bodywork a tone and depth of colour unmatched by modern clear coat paints.
Even today, the entire car is absolutely free of rust or oxide on both the steel and aluminium parts.
The engine has been completely rebuilt and made suitable for unleaded fuel. Flywheel and crankshaft have been balanced.
Brakes have been overhauled and upgraded for more power.
Exhaust is entirely in stainless steel.
Suspensions have also been upgraded. The shock absorbers were recalibrated by an expert in Great Britain and then combined with a larger anti-roll bar with slightly lowered suspension and modified to achieve a camber better suited to modern radial tires.
The original steering column was replaced with a shock-absorbing one for greater safety. The current transmission is a Getrag 5-speed, and the clutch is a modern one with a built-in actuator. The starter motor is oversized and a Dynator dynamo/alternator was installed. All modifications are reversible, and all original components remain with the car, including the original gearbox with overdrive.
