What a beautiful Alfa. The kind of car you can fall in love with. Its foundation was the Giulia Sprint GT: the compact four-seat coupé designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro while at Bertone and introduced in the early 1960s. A sharp nose, a subtle step in the hood, slender pillars, and exactly the proportions that make an Alfa so instantly recognizable.
For the GTC, the car was sent to Touring in Milan. There, the body was subtly modified to create a genuine four-seat convertible. The rear section was slightly revised, the luggage compartment adapted, and the soft top folded neatly away behind the rear seat. This was no improvised open-top conversion, then, but an official model produced in very limited numbers. Approximately 999 GTCs were built, making it genuinely rare today.
This 1966 example began its life in France. It later moved to California, where it spent no fewer than 41 years in the San Francisco area. Not a bad place to be. Its most recent owner was a true enthusiast. Someone who clearly enjoyed not only looking at cars, but actually using them as well.
This Alfa was restored by Epifani in Berkeley, California. The restoration is properly documented with photographs and invoices. The car’s subsequent history is also extensively recorded, with a file dating back to 1985. The color combination is Biancospino with Pelle Rossa. White outside. Red inside. And a black dashboard in between. What wonderful details an Alfa like this has. The red seats and carpeting give the interior exactly the right amount of emotion, while the black dashboard keeps the overall effect beautifully restrained. Together with the white bodywork, it creates one of those combinations that simply makes you think: yes, of course this is how it should be.
This GTC is also fitted with original GTA wheels. A detail that gives it just a little more sporting character without sacrificing any of its elegance. Under the hood lies the familiar Alfa Romeo four-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Light, lively, and exactly the kind of engineering that makes a small Alfa feel so much greater than its dimensions might suggest. Top down, five gears, and an engine that loves to rev. You really do not need much more than that.
This is not a GTC that feels sterile or afraid of being driven. It is a beautifully restored and well-documented car with authentic character and exactly the right presence. A 1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC, restored by Epifani, cherished for many years in California, and finished in Biancospino with Pelle Rossa. Only 999 built. Frankly, they should have made many more. What a car!
