We are selling our well-maintained black Triumph TR250, built in May 1968.

The TR250 Roadster model from the British manufacturer Triumph Motor Company from Coventry was intended for the US market. Around 8,400 were built. Many can be found outside the USA today, mainly in Europe. There are now only around 600 left worldwide.

Our TR250 model is therefore probably one of the last to be built in Coventry. It left the production line on 23 May 1968, was shipped to the USA on 17 June 1968 from "Samuel Williams Wharf in Dagenham England" on the Norwegian freighter "Vinni" and was registered in the USA on 30 June 1968. This data can be taken from the existing certificate of the **"British Motor Industry Heritage Trust". According to the certificate, our TR250 has "Matching Numbers" **as the original engine (No. CC/5638-E) and the original frame (No. CD/5683-L) are still fitted. This authenticity is highly valued by collectors and enthusiasts as it preserves the historical integrity and value of the vehicle.

We have owned this beautiful roadster model since 2018, when our TR250 was already rated a 2+ by a Classic Data assessment and with a replacement value of €42,000. Since then, it has been extensively optimised, further improved and regularly professionally serviced, regardless of cost. The next main inspection is due in October 2025. The additional improvements, optimisations and renovations have a proven additional value of €22,000. All original invoices are available and documented in a folder.

It is now more than ever suitable for everyday use and holidays. Unfortunately, however, we don't have the time to drive it regularly and take it on trips. In the last 3 years, we have unfortunately only been able to drive the TR about 1,000 kilometres. Far too little for such a piece of jewellery!

We would therefore be delighted to sell it to someone who appreciates it and can invest more time in driving it. A lot of driving pleasure is guaranteed with this TR250!

Of course, our TR250 is kept in a heated single garage and is only driven in dry and sunny weather (if it is driven). Otherwise it is kept covered in the garage.

The improvements, optimisations and maintenance are listed below:

2018

  • Differential replaced and conversion to a **5-speed gearbox **from Toyota. This is an absolute highlight, it is much better than any overdrive gearbox and is unbeatable in terms of liveliness and driving comfort. Only very few TR250s have such a gearbox installed - costs approx. €3,000.
  • Classic wooden steering wheel Moto-Lita MK3 installed.
  • Door sill trims right/left with Triumph logo; dashboard in walnut look and glove compartment renewed.
  • Engine/gearbox/cardan shaft completely overhauled, seals renewed; differential removal completely serviced, inspection and seal renewals; horn/warning indicators repaired; petrol pump renewed. Was done at British Royal Cars in Munich. Corresponding photos are available. Costs €4,200.

2019

  • Speedometer renewed (electric) by Revington England. Original manual speedometer is available and is included with the purchase. Costs €450.
  • Surrey top and hardtop roof painted. Cost €1,400 (Dahabi Lackierungen Garching). With round glazing and seals fitted.
  • New lightweight aluminium radiator with high-performance mesh installed, new radiator hoses incl. heating hoses in original look with fabric insert.
  • Stainless steel water pipe with thermostat connection and new thermostat switch for the Kenlowe high-performance fan; overflow tank renewed.
  • New front/rear brake pads; new rear brake drums.
  • Sun visor set renewed. Set is available but not fitted. Costs €200.

2020

  • High-quality wool carpets renewed inside black, top quality from England, no cheap plastic wool imitation; gearshift console newly covered, complete insulation of the interior incl. boot with high-quality Dynalite Extreme insulation mats. Corresponding photos are available. Costs approx. €700.
  • **New Suffolk leather seats from England in beige tan, **absolutely high-quality leather was used here. The seats and interior panelling are not in boring black like many other TRs, but in a matching elegant beige tan. Costs €1,700.
  • Interior panelling completely renewed with the same Suffolk leather in beige. Cost €1,300.
  • Seat belts new and in beige to match the interior. The belt holders on the left and right (see photos) are made of brushed stainless steel and are custom-made by Bernhard Popp. They are practical and eye-catching! Cost with belts approx. €250.
  • Radiator grille renewed, high-quality replica with black struts. Costs €350.
  • Stainless steel sports exhaust system renewed with a great "Tourist Trophy" twin tailpipe polished to a high gloss. Another eye-catcher! Cost €500.
  • Tachometer renewed (electric) from Revington England. Original manual rev counter is available and is included with the purchase. Costs €400.
  • Ignition distributor conversion to a 123+ tune with Bluetooth. I can recommend this to anyone - the 123+ is a freely programmable electric 123 Ignition ignition, which is even easier to set with the correct values for the adjustment characteristics (curve) thanks to an app. Costs €450.
  • Differential oil change, overhauled, new seals. Cardan shaft and drive shafts new oil seals. Flange of cardan shaft renewed. Bottom completely lubricated. Was necessary because the differential had lost oil. Everything tight since then. Was done by Auto Martin in Pürgen am Ammersee, top classic car/TR specialist! Cost €380.
  • New SU HS-6 twin carburettor system from Burlen England. 2 completely new carburettors installed incl. new steel flex fuel lines €850.
  • Various minor replacements/maintenance - oil pressure switch, oil pressure valve incl. housing, cooling water drain tap engine block incl. cooling water. Costs €120.

2021

  • Soft top kit with high-quality mohair soft top from Revington. This is an absolutely high-quality soft top, which can be dismantled and transported assembled in the boot. Bag is included. Cost €1,350.
  • K&N sports air filter box 2 pieces renewed. Cost €216.

2022

Battery (Varta) and alternator replaced. Cost €200.

New window panes left/right. New window regulator linkage left/right. Doors insulated inside with Dynalite Extreme. Window guide rails front/rear restored. Door mouldings inside/outside for left and right doors renewed. Hinges renewed left/right cost €500.

Upper part of dashboard (black plastic) renewed incl. new ashtray. Cost €180.

Windscreen frame inside panelling renewed. Cost €200.

2023

  • Ignition coil renewed Lucas Sports Ignition Coil. Cost €50.

Our TR250 also has the following parts installed, which were already present:

  • Mocal high performance aluminium oil cooler unit
  • Kenlow high performance fan
  • Kent 280° Fast Road camshaft
  • Fan manifold
  • Aluminium die-cast valve cover
  • Koni Klassik Red Sport front/rear shock absorbers
  • Minator aluminium mounts with Vredestein Sprint Classic 185 HR15 tyres
  • Perforated front brake discs

There are other spare and maintenance parts available with a total value of more than €1,000, for example 2 new brake discs, which have not yet been fitted as the current ones are still in perfect condition. Two new bonnet hinges etc. All spare parts will of course be included with the purchase.
