Series II – The Golden Middle Ground – The 1969 Jaguar E-Type Roadster

The Jaguar E-Type is the domesticated form of a racing thoroughbred. It descends directly from the Jaguar D-Type, the three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

It is the archetype of a sports car: too loud, too low, and too hot for everyday use - built above all for the pure thrill of acceleration. In a true sports car, the driving experience is reflected in its form. The E-Type’s lines were shaped by aerodynamic principles, without sacrificing sensual curves.

Its metal skin clings tightly to the mechanicals and the occupants. When unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, the E-Type caused a sensation. With 265 hp and a top speed of 210 km/h, it cost less than 28,000 Swiss francs. An Aston Martin DB4 offered four seats and a bit more comfort - but at over 43,000 francs.

This E-Type comes from the second series, built from 1968 onward. Originally delivered to the USA, its original Stromberg carburettors were later replaced with two SU carburettors. We are offering the E-Type with a newly renewed soft-top and interior, along with a stainless steel exhaust system. Various service invoices from the past 16 years are available. The car will receive a fresh veteran technical inspection upon sale.
