We can call it the swan song of Leonardo Fioravanti's famous line for Pininfarina, presented in 1976 with the 308. The 208 - V8 2000cc engine - was born for fiscal reasons in the mid-1980s and was available in naturally aspirated and turbo versions; its body, dotted with air intakes to cool the turbocharged engine, also gave rise to the first of Ferrari's "hypercars," the 288 GTO.
After the first 208 Turbos with 220 horsepower, an intercooler was introduced in late 1985 to improve the performance of a very aggressive and delicate engine. With the introduction of the 328, the 208 Turbo intercooler was not only updated stylistically but also improved in terms of power delivery and driving pleasure, now boasting 254 horsepower, delivered through the evergreen 5-speed gearbox with visible gear selector.
Smoother and more enjoyable handling, whether for a leisurely stroll or a sporty ride with the wind in your hair, the car boasts tried-and-tested mechanics and a shape that has become a symbol for Ferrari enthusiasts born in the 1970s and 1980s. This model, one of the last produced in mid-1989, also benefits from a final improvement reserved for the last 200 cars: the ABS.
This 208 GTS Turbo (or simply "GTS Turbo") was sold to its first owner on May 3, 1989, through the Ferrari “Motor” dealership. It was painted Rosso Corsa with a black leather interior and red carpeting. By 2010, the car had traveled approximately 10,000 km, all documented and with regular maintenance performed every 3-5 years. The car then passed to its second owner, who owned it until 2019, covering another 10,000 km when it passed to the current owner, who stopped the odometer at approximately 33,000 km. The regular maintenance begun by the first owner has been continued by subsequent owners, with an extremely comprehensive service logbook complete with invoices and receipts. Regular maintenance was recently performed, so there is no work to be done in the short term: it is one of the Ferrari models with the easiest maintenance and, if kept in good conditions as this example, it is extremely reliable.
The bodywork, first paint, and interior are preserved, as are the mechanics, in perfect condition, especially considering the low mileage.
All original equipment is present, including a tool kit, jack with bag, roof cover, double keys, booklets and manuals, etc.
This 208 Turbo intercooler is one of the few to be certified by Ferrari Classiche in addition to having ASI homologation. Original italian title and license plates.
It can be viewed by appointment in Bologna. Further details on www.gulfblue.it
