2020 Bentley Continental GT 'Launch car specification'
Colours make cars - and this car is a real smasher!!
In 2017, under the lights of the Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley unveiled the third-generation Continental GT - sleeker, sharper, and more dramatically sculpted than any iteration before it. Crowds gathered around the press stand, but one gentleman in particular found himself unable to look away.
What captivated him was not just the design, it was the colour. The interior spec. The total look.
The gentleman stood in front of that Frankfurt launch car long enough to fall in love, and on the day ordered an exact copy of it! It isn't the first time that a manufacturer have got the specification for the launch car BANG ON!! But it also isn't always the case.
His example was delivered shortly after, built precisely to the launch-car configuration and finished in that unforgettable Red. The cabin was specified to mirror the Frankfurt debut car too-Bentley's contemporary interpretation of luxury with flowing veneers (Ebonised veneers in this example), diamond quilting, and the Rotating Display that was the centre piece of the new interior.
On top this the 4.0 litre V8 produces an impressive 550bhp with 568 ft/lbs of torquing things giving up to 200 mph and zipping to 60mph from zero in an unbelievable 4.0 seconds !!!
Since delivery, the car has lived an impeccable life, Just 14,000 miles from new, always serviced by Bentley, and cared for with an exacting level of attention, it remains as breathtaking today as the moment its muse first turned on its rotating plinth in Frankfurt.
Many cars were ordered.
Very few were inspired.
This one belongs firmly in the latter category - a Continental GT born from a moment of pure automotive emotion, rendered in one of the most magnificent colours Bentley has ever produced.
