For a long time, the Aston Martin was the gold standard for the handmade English sports car. It had become a bit of a dinosaur in the mid 80s so a new, less costly model was needed. A design competition was called and 5 design teams participated. One of the requirements was that the body had to fit onto a shortened Lagonda chassis. Ken Greenley and John Hefferman’s design was selected. The existing V-8 engine was modernizwed and 4 valves per cylinder led to 340 powerful PS. The new design was first presented at the Birmingham Motorshow. The successor was the DB 7, which has a lot in common with Jaguar.
Our Aston Martin Virage Volante is registered in Germany. This young classic was part of a collection and has a low mileage. After a long hiatus in the garage it has been dusted off and brought back to live at a specialty repair shop. So this is practically a car in a nearly “new” condtion. Enjoy the last variant with the famous V8 engine.
