Craft, Design & Engineering
S2 Classic Cars is a family business which was founded in 2015 by the current owner and director André Schoenmakers. André Schoenmakers has been a classic car enthusiast for most of his life and started his own collection in 2012. His first car was a beautiful Mercedes 190SL, after which a second car was quickly added to the collection: a Maserati 3500GT. The collection quickly grew and so more restorations and fix ups were needed. After trying a number of classic car workshops, André set up his own classic car garage. This is the result of the load of work that could be performed on the collection, and the high costs which are involved with that. André also missed the eye for detail in the other garages. Therefore, the start of S2 Classic Cars!
S2 Classic Cars started at Wegtersweg in Hengelo with one employee. This quickly grew to multiple employees and a larger car collection. This made the location at Wegtersweg quickly too small. We then moved to our beautiful building on the Goudstraat,
which we currently still occupy. We have three areas: our showroom, the sheet metal shop and the workshop. Everything is spacious and neatly set up to maintain a good overview of the projects. With the sheet metal workshop, cars are able to be made “from scratch” with the techniques and tools of the time. In our workshop, the car can be made completely technically in order, including e.g. overhauling the engine. With our building on the Goudstraat, we establish ourselves next to fellow luxury car specialists Munsterhuis and VDM.
André and “the boys”, the S2 Classic Cars team, can often be found at events such as the Mille Miglia and Concours d’Élegance. Every year we enjoy participating in this where we often have participating cars ourselves and a service team to facilitate this. Here you can see that S2 Classic Cars is a family business because daughter Emma is almost always there during the classic related events. She has also worked in the company since 2017.
