The name of Alois Ruf is worshipped among Porsche cognoscenti; what was once a small tuning shop in Pfaffenhausen is a recognized automobile manufacturer in its own right. Over the past four decades these sought-after machines have proven themselves able to outperform the finest supercars in the world. Indeed, RUF first stunned the automotive community in 1987 when its astonishing narrow-body turbocharged “Yellow Bird” overwhelmed Road & Track magazine's first top-speed shootout by turning laps of more than 210 miles per hour on Volkswagen's 15.5-mile Ehra-Lessien research oval, almost 10 miles an hour faster than any other challenger. Yet it was in the 1990s when RUF came into their own with the RUF Turbo Carrera or RCT.

Like many RUFs, the RCT's engine is the star. A turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-liter flat-six with Bosch-Motronic engine management packs 370 horsepower and a highly impressive 395 lb-ft of torque flowing through a RUF exhaust system. A RUF-designed six-speed manual transmission puts the power to the road via 18-inch RUF-Speedline wheels that aged, if possible, even better than the original Yellow Bird's. While engine focused, the brakes, suspension, and aerodynamics were all upgraded, each of them a “must-have” at the speeds the RCT can generate. In fact, Road & Track said in December 1993 that “You (can) push the RCT like crazy, deep into a corner, and just as you're expecting it to get light, the car plants its tires and takes a set like cement. Nothing is done softly, but in a machine this pure, there's no reason in the world that it should be.”

Like all RUF automobiles, production of the RCT was limited over a very short period of time before the 993-generation BTR2 arrived. Yet, for those who loved the looks of the 964-generation 911 Carrera and the brand from Pfaffenhausen, Alois Ruf offered an extended RCT conversion period at least until the late 1990s as evidenced by this well-documented RCT. According to its original order form, this 911 was originally ordered by Dr. Walter Stoll and was specified in Midnight Blue Metallic over a Classic Grey partial Raffleder or Ruffled Leather interior. It was delivered through Porsche Zentrum Dortmund optioned with a limited slip differential, heated seats, and an electric sliding sunroof among other items.

After eight years of regular servicing at the factory and official Porsche dealerships, the service book records a visit to RUF Automobile GmbH in 1999 to perform a “Motorumbau RCT” and RUF instruments set to “Stand 000.” According to the RUF Conversion Confirmation, the car received a comprehensive makeover that included a RUF serialized 370-horsepower RCT specification flat-six engine, six-speed G50/20 transmission, RUF airbag steering wheel, RUF instrumentation, 18-inch RUF Speedline wheels, and RUF tailpipes. RUF sculpted front spoiler lip, and a 964-generation 911 Turbo rear wing. In narrow-body configuration, the car's performance increased dramatically. From a standstill 100 km/h was reached in 4.5 seconds on the way to a top speed of 305 km/h. Naturally with such elevated output RUF modified the suspension and brakes as well. After the RCT conversion Dr. Stoll took delivery of his “new” RCT that remained in optional Midnight Blue Metallic. Naturally, the RCT's regular servicing continued at RUF and Eleven Classics after the conversion under Dr. Stoll's care. Most notably, in 2021 the car received a thorough inspection at the hands of Alois Ruf's team in Pfaffenhausen. The two invoices from October 2021 span eight pages detailing the nearly €9.500 spent on an array of areas and systems to insure this RCT remains a potent performer.

The highly comprehensive history file that includes its original well-stamped service book and RUF build sheet also includes its original Porsche order form, a copy of its original German title, and additional service invoices. Most recently, in 2022, the RCT visited a Porsche facility in Papendorf, Germany for a thorough inspection and annual maintenance. Cars enhanced by RUF of any sort rarely come to market and this RCT offers an opportunity for the Porsche and RUF enthusiast seeking an excellent, well cared for example.

The car can be viewed at our premises in Germany, 33415 Verl at any time by arrangement. A lifting platform is available for this purpose.
