We wonder why someone paid an awful lot of money for this car then barely drove it, but they certainly looked after it as it has evidently been stored inside, as there is zero UV damage, and there are records of 6 services in less than 1500 miles!

The E550, known as an E500 for the UK market, used a 5.5-litre V8 engine offering 382bhp and 391lb/ft. But, while it offered terrific performance, it did so without the noise and drama of the AMG models. With Airmatic suspension the ride was beautifully compliant and well controlled and the V8 engine barely audible. This was a fast but civilised model, and discreet too, for if the badge was removed there was no telling what lay under the bonnet.

Obviously, this example is in spectacular condition throughout. The plastic protective coating is still in place on the sill steps!
