Lanchester LA10 Tickford Coupé by Salmons & Sons – Year 1933

A true piece of British automotive history: We offer this rare Lanchester LA10 Tickford Drophead Coupé, built in 1933 with an aluminium body by Salmons & Sons (London & Newport) – one of the most renowned coachbuilders of the pre-war era.


Vehicle Details:

  • First Registration: 21 June 1933 (UK)
  • Bodywork: Aluminium, built as a Three-Position Drophead Coupé (fully open convertible, can also be driven as landaulet)
  • Seats: 4
  • Original wire wheels, spare wheel mounted at the rear
  • No running boards – elegant body lines

Technical Specifications:

  • Engine: 1,203 cc, 4-cylinder, 32 hp (24 kW), 4-stroke petrol engine
  • Top Speed: approx. 97 km/h (60 mph)
  • Gearbox: Daimler Fluid-Flywheel with Self-Changing Transmission, 4-speed plus reverse, column shift
  • Brakes: Lockheed 4-wheel hydraulic brakes (foot), cable-operated handbrake on rear axle
  • Fuel Tank: approx. 30 litres, runs on regular petrol with lead additive
  • Tyres: Front 4.50x19, rear 5.00x19 Dunlop on wire-spoke wheels

Restoration & Condition:

  • Extensively restored between 1997 and 2000

  • First registered in Germany in June 2000

  • Currently road-registered with historic vehicle plates (H-Kennzeichen)

  • Technical and mechanical components carefully overhauled, including:

  • Conversion to electric fuel pump (Mitsuba R-X 140400/12V)

  • Spark plugs: BOSCH Super W8AC

  • Oil filter: MANN H921x

  • Original Thermo-Syphon cooling system (no fan, with thermostat)
