99 RXW is an incredibly special car with outstanding history and provenance. This matching numbers cars was supplied new by Stringer (Haywards Heath) Limited, dispatched on the 24th May 1968 finished in British Racing Green and the car comes with an incredible history to include the original bill of sale, Periodic Maintenance Voucher booklet, Passport to Service, Owner’s Service Policy document, Stringer hand over letter, all original manuals in the Jaguar original supplied wallet and a huge file of invoices and MOT certificates dating back to 1979. The Jaguar has covered a warranted 75,000 miles from new and also retains its original tool kit.

The original bill of sale confirms the cost new of £1873 was charged to its Sussex based first owner. Accompanying the original invoice is a dealership statement and handwritten receipt, and the service books confirm the supplying dealership Stringer of Haywards Heath carried out the cars early services at 1148, 4016, 7013, 10083, 13311, 16484, 19440, 22446, 25595, 28561, 30662, 34635, 37635, 40375, 42960 and 45300 miles in 1977. Wadham Stringer also MOT tested the car up to 1980 at 49740 miles showing the majority of miles being covered in the cars first 12 years and was clearly maintained to the highest standards by the supplying Jaguar dealership. In 1985 a sales invoice confirms the Jaguar was sold with a mileage of 59737 miles and the S'Type then spent over 30 years in the same family, selling the car in late 2017 with 69511miles from new. Between 2018 to 2020 around £10,000 was spent on the Jaguar and this included a full re-trim in leather, various woodwork, new door weather seals, 123 distributor, silicone HT leads and over this period over 3000 miles were covered but it was the most recent owner who purchased the car in 2020 that has really taken the S'Type to the next level.

Since 2020 in the region of £25,000 has been spent taking the S'Type to an exceptional standard. First of all some detailed paintwork was carried out and a set of painted wire wheels fitted to the car. 99 RXW was then handed to Jaguar specialist Paul Roach Classics Ltd with the brief to carry out any recommended improvements. Paul Roach went right through the car carrying out various suspension and braking system (3 pot calipers, hoses, brake servo) overhaul work, replaced seals and gaskets as required and ignition and fuel system maintenance. The engine was removed and a new clutch kit and clutch hose fitted, various other work was carried out with the engine out to include refacing the flywheel, fitting new core plugs, hoses, pipes and gearbox spring seats and mounting bush. The Jaguar was also fitted with a correct hydraulic power steering system with a new power steering box, steering pump, reservoir and all related ancillaries including a Lucas Dynator. A detailed file of invoices confirm further detailed work that has taken the car to an exceptional standard. In April 2022 £1875 was spent on carrying out a 2 stage paint correction and applying Titan ceramic coating for an exceptional gleaming finish to the car and the interior has also been nicely finsihed with an E-Type steering wheel.

Since 2020 the Jaguar has covered around 2000 miles with 75000 miles now warranted from new. Recently before arriving with us the car was driven faultlessly to Goodwood Members Meet and is first class in every respect. The car is superb on the road, the 3.4 litre engine offers excellent performance, correct oil pressure and the four speed manual overdrive gearbox is a delight to use. An inspection underneath shows the rear subframe has been rebuilt in recent years and is beautifully powder coated, and with refreshed brakes and suspension and power steering the car is beautiful in terms of ride and handling. The presentation of the car is equally impressive with stunning paintwork, the body is incredibly straight and the door fit beautiful. The chrome work is of a very good standard, the interior is superbly presented and wheels and tyres excellent. The engine bay is finished to a very good standard, as is the boot and spare wheel well and the underside incredibly sharp with excellent floor, sills, jacking points and cross members. 99 RXW is a striking example, its ideal for regular use, shows events and the history, paperwork and provenance is quite simply exquisite. It won't be easy to find an S'Type quite like this, its unrepeatable in so many respects.
