Koch Automobile AG celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023. Three decades of success that we are proud of and which deserve a worthy symbol. What could be better than a unique automobile, preferably a Hurtan? The name of this Spanish custom car manufacturer has a legendary ring among connoisseurs of the scene. And around 30 vehicles a year are refined by Hurtan - a nice parallel that inspired us when developing an idea with Hurtan's designers. For us, the only possible basis for the Hurtan was of course the Mazda MX-5, a fascinating, successful model from the brand with which the history of Koch Automobile AG began in 1993 and an iconic legend as the best-selling roadster in the world.

During a visit to the Hurtan location in Santa Fé near Granada, a delegation consisting of brand managers, service management and sales management quickly agreed with Hurtan's creative team that our MX-5 should be a vehicle in the style of the 30s to 50s. At that time, roadsters and convertibles did not have an extremely elite status but were affordable and numerous on the streets. The Mazda MX-5 also owes its success not least to its affordability, a feature that Mazda has never given up on despite constant price increases for competitor models.

Hurtan has tuned an available storage truck MX-5 adaptation “Albaycín” as an exclusive one-off cooking item and delivered it to the big company anniversary event in November 2023.
