Description

A body designed by Pininfarina with a heart produced in Bologna by the Maserati Brothers: these two names are enough to make the Fiat 1600S Cabriolet a true collector's car.


Presented towards the end of the 1950s, the new 1200/1500/1600 spider (and coupe as well) updated the sporty image of production cars from the Turin company with a typically Pininfarina style – very similar to the stylistic features
of the Ferrari 250 GTE, for example – characterized by few and slender lines; After a first series motorised 1200, 1500 and 1600, the latters made by OSCA with 72 and 100 horsepower, in 1963 the second series was presented. The only engine made by the Maserati Brothers was the 1600, now without front air intake on the bonnet but with dual headlights nestled in the front grille.
The 1600 engine now produced 90hp: this is the fortunate twin cam architecture derived from the famous ones
sports cars produced by the Maserati brothers from 1947 under the OSCA, Officine Specializzate Costruzioni Automobili, based first in Bologna - near the historic Maserati headquarters - then in San Lazzaro di Savena.
The 1600S, unlike the other versions, was produced directly by Pininfarina and marketed by Fiat: a real one-off.

The example we propose for sale is one of the last ones produced, sold in 1965 in Milan then sold in Verona in 1975 getting the current license plate. After few long term owners, the car has undergone a full high quality restoration in the original color scheme graphite gray finely matched to the magnolia interior.
Engine completely overhauled, as well as mechanics, interiors, electrical system, bodywork, chromed parts and tires. 

The car has the ASI homologation (could easily get the FIVA pass) and is the ideal adventure companion for events or en plein air long trips.
