Description

American Classic car enthusiasts are familiar with term 'Tri Five Chevy' This was the nickname representing a specific series of classic Chevrolet vehicles, namely the iconic 1955, 1956 and 1957 products including the well-known One-Fifty, Two-Ten, Bel Air, and Nomad models. In 1955 alone 1.8 million 'Tri-five' Chevys were built and by the end of 1957 over 5 million had been produced. Of them all, the 1957 Bel Air is arguably the most desirable model with its distinctive front end and rear tail fins and the car we present here is an astonishing example having been subject of an exceptional no expense spared restoration. It came to England and was first registered here in November 1978 and its last owner acquired the car in 2015, as a low mileage 'barn find'. We have photos of the car on a 'T' plate 45 years ago, many invoices and a beautiful book of photographs detailing its transformation to the present show-stopping condition.

This is the stunning Bel Air Sport four door pillarless Sedan giving the graceful appearance of a two door pillarless coupe with the convenience of rear door access. This was a £90,000 frame-off rebuild in its original stunning colour scheme. The work was completed in 2020 and every part of the car is truly show quality and only 300 miles have been covered since restoration. The legendary 'Dragster King' John Sleath is responsible for building the new 283 cu in (4.6 litre) V8 engine and the history file includes the dyno results for this superb power plant - 268.9 HP at 4300 RPM and 327.9 lb/ft of torque! The specification includes Powerglide Auto transmission, power steering and power windows.

This without doubt is the finest Bel Air we've had the pleasure of selling in over 30 years in the industry, the quality is first class throughout and having had an incredible £90000 of expenditure, this is without doubt a show class example that has been rebuilt to the highest of standards. The bodywork, paintwork and chrome are first class, the upholstery exceptional and the engine bay ready to win shows. On the road the Chevy is a true delight, its sensational in every respect and will not disapoint. This is an unrepeatable opportunity, it really is something incredibly special.
