Descripción

This 1965 Sunbeam Alpine 260 (Mk.I) is a rare piece of automotive history—a true gem that combines a classic American recipe with exclusive European heritage and style. With only 223 Mk.I units ever built to this continental Europe spec, with left-hand drive and speedometer scale in kilometres per hour, the Mk.I Alpine 260 stands as a exquisite and coveted collector's item.

Tiger was the name chosen by the Rootes Group for the V8 version of the Alpine, presented in 1964. This model name was registered in France and Germany by Panhard and Messerschmitt, so the name adopted for Continental Europe was «Alpine 260», although it was still called Tiger in the U.S.A..

The development of the Tiger was done by Carroll Shelby, using the same recipe already used for the AC Cobra. With the Alpine IV as base, Shelby equipped the Tiger with a 260 ci (4.2 litre) Ford V8 engine, a «Panhard» rod to enhance the rear axle, stiffer front springs to cope with the weight of the V8 engine and a more modern rack and pinion steering mechanism.

This meticulously upgraded Alpine 260 retains its timeless design and vintage charm while boasting enhancements that elevate its performance to new heights. Underneath the hood lies a meticulously tuned 289 ci (4.7-litre) V8 engine, delivering exhilarating power and responsiveness that, alongside upgraded the suspension and brakes, promises an unforgettable driving experience.

From its distinctive features to its unique driving dynamics, this car offers a glimpse into a bygone era of American muscle power meets European motoring excellence that is sure to captivate enthusiasts around the world.

Inside, you'll be greeted by a tastefully upgraded interior that seamlessly blends vintage charm with modern comfort. From the custom upholstery to the slightly upgraded instrumentation, every detail has been meticulously crafted to enhance your driving experience and evoke a sense of nostalgia for a golden age of motoring.

Whether you're cruising along scenic roads or showcasing this rare gem at automotive events, this 1965 Sunbeam Alpine 260 is sure to command attention and admiration wherever it goes. With its combination of rarity, style, and performance, it's a true enthusiast dream—a piece of automotive history that is as exclusive as it is exhilarating.

Complete with canvas roof, hard top, original 260 ci (4.2 litre) engine and related documentation and reading material.
