Descripción

Quite possibly the best known small British sportscar of all time, the MGB was first introduced in 1964 – in Roadster form – and production continued until 1980, by which time over half a million (of all variants) had been produced. The car still has a large following to this day and a good support network through specialist suppliers and an owners club.

Limited changes were made to the car prior to the substantial revision to its appearance from the 1974 model year, when the original chrome bumpers were replaced with new, steel-reinforced black rubber bumpers front and rear, to meet new US impact regulations.

Throughout the model’s life, the 1800cc engine was rated at 95 bhp peak power at 5,400 rpm, with a 6,000 rpm redline. In 1968 the gearbox was uprated to offer full synchromesh on all 4 gears. This gave performance figures of a top speed around 105 mph, and a 0-60 mph time of around 12 seconds.

This rubber-bumper GT model was first registered new in Jersey in June 1975 and has remained in the island all its life. With a modest 5 owners over nearly 50 years, it has clocked up just over 70,000 miles in that time. The current owner acquired the car after a lengthy period in storage and has returned the vehicle to a fully roadworthy condition.

The recent re-commissioning works have included the fitment of a new radiator, water pump, thermostat and hoses, together with a refurbishment of the braking system. A welcome upgrade to the car is to be found with the installation of an EZ electric power steering unit. The car drives very well.

This MGB has not been the subject of substantial restoration work, but there is evidence of some repair work having been carried out. The underside of the car is sound with just a little light surface corrosion, as might be anticipated. The gleaming red paintwork and Rostyle wheels present well. The car has a folding sunroof and additional driving lamps fitted.

The original interior is in a good condition, benefitting from the addition of leather seat covers and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. It has a stereo cassette unit fitted.

This is a tidy, original, late model MGB GT in a generally good condition. It is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner and – with the benefit of the electrically assisted power-steering fitted - would make a very capable, classic daily-driver.

The car is currently Jersey registered and we can assist with shipping and importation processes if required. We can ship worldwide.
