The BMW 3200 CS was a top class GT produced by BMW from 1962 to 1965. The car, designed by Bertone, was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1961.
The 3200 CS was the last model based on the first post-war BMW luxury platform introduced with the BMW 501 in 1951. The styling of the 3200 CS inspired the 2000 CS coupé version of the New Class and the later E9 series.
It was BMW's first model to feature the Hofmeister kink, which would become one of the company's most signature design cues.

Design
In 1960, BMW commissioned Bertone to design a successor to the BMW 503 based on the BMW 501 chassis. This made the 3200 CS the last BMW with a traditional chassis without a self-supporting body.

The coupé body was one of Giorgetto Giugiaro's first designs at Bertone. The car received panoramic windows and frameless side windows, a spacious interior and a large trunk. The equipment was also luxurious, the 3200 CS was one of the first German cars with electrically operated windows. Seatbelts, on the other hand, were only optionally available.

The car was powered by a 3.2L aluminum V8 engine with twin carburetors with an engine output of 160 hp, capable of a top speed of 200 km/h. The four-speed manual gearbox, as in the 501/502, 503 and 507, was not attached directly to the engine, but was located at the level of the front seats and was connected to the engine with a short cardan shaft. Power steering was not available and only the front wheels were equipped with disc brakes.
In the spring of 1963, the 3200 CS received a facelift: the metal dashboard was replaced by a wood version, the interior received standard leather upholstery and the gearbox was attached directly to the engine.

This restored BMW 3200 CS was long owned by an Austrian. The car was restored about 10 years ago and the engine was also overhauled. It is a type 2 of the 3200 cs, so with the gearbox mounted on the engine. This engine runs silky smooth. This BMW has the color white with a black leather interior. This chic 8-cylinder is a beautiful creation by Bertone, although there are also people who say that the car is a bit too inconspicuous. The car has been beautifully restored and the fitting seams connect beautifully and can be placed in a BMW collection.
