By the end of the 1950s, the further development of the six-cylinder engine from Bentley and Rolls/Royce, which had been successful for decades, had reached its limits. The all-aluminium V8 with a displacement of 6,230 cc was therefore launched as a new power unit. A quantum leap into the modern luxury class, installed in the Bentley S 2 as well as in the Rolls-Royce SC II and Phantom V. This ‘engine of the century’ was continuously developed and built for over 50 years. In addition to the standard Steel body, you could also have your Bentley customised. There were saloons, coupés and convertibles in various body styles.
Our left-hand drive Bentley limousine is a S 2 Continental Flying Spur from Mulliner, first delivered in New York on 24 October 1960. The classic car has been in Germany since 2007, restored and registered. It is now in 4th hand. Only 388 Bentley Continental were delivered and a left-hand drive Flying Spur is rarely on offer.
