Descripción

The exquisite aluminium bodywork was styled by Touring of Milan, utilising their famed Superleggera lightweight structure. The first 50 cars had no over-riders, and frameless side windows. The DB4 has long been regarded by enthusiasts as the purists' example, with its wonderful proportions and nimble handling. The Aston Martin DB4 Series I, bearing the registration number WLC 433, stands as a testament to the marque's engineering excellence and design prowess. This particular model is among the earliest examples of the DB4 series, which was introduced in 1958 and produced until 1963. The DB4 was notable for its advanced technology, including a lightweight aluminium body and a powerful 4.2 litre inline-six engine, which set new standards in performance and luxury for its time.

Aston Martin registered the car as their London demonstration model and then supplied it to its first owner Dolcis Ltd, Great Dover Street London, W1. R.S Williams opted to upgrade the DB4 interior to the DB6 specification, converted the car to run on Vantage triple Weber set-up and added the flared front and rear wheel arches to accommodate the larger offset wire wheels. This vehicle successfully competed in hill climb events, and its successes were legendary. It is the epitome of fast road specification.

After eventually selling the DB4, Richard Williams continued to look after the car for its new owners. In recent years, the vehicle underwent a comprehensive restoration to bring it back to its original glory. This meticulous process included an engine rebuild to a 4.2 litre specification and a conversion to run on unleaded fuel, ensuring both performance and environmental compliance. The restoration was carried out by Aston Martin marque specialists Pugsley &Lewis and Prestige Restorations, with the work costing over £222,000. The car now boasts a comprehensive history file, including ownership records, factory build sheet, historic MoTs, Hertiage Certificate, factory fitted air conditioning, power steering, Bluetooth capability and a copy of the original buff logbook and a BMIHT record, making it one of the finest examples of its kind.

Today, WLC 433 resides in near concours condition, ready to be enjoyed by its fortunate owner. Its blend of historical significance, racing pedigree, and meticulous restoration makes it a standout example of Aston Martin's rich heritage. Its success in these events not only showcased its engineering capabilities but also solidified its status among enthusiasts and collectors. Naturally, this rare and highly sought-after DB4. Its provenance and near concours condition make this one of the finest examples of its kind. The DB4 Mk. I also retains its original registration number of WLC 433. This important car which has now returned to its former glory, is available to be enjoyed straight away. Consigned by James Good
