About this Jaguar MK2
---------------------

According to the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, this lovely Jaguar 3.4 MKII Manual with Overdrive - Chassis No: 156025D/N and Engine No: KG 93638 was built in Coventry on 14th June 1961 and delivered to Jaguar Distributor Henlys in London who supplied it to Retail Dealer H W Motors of Walton on Thames. The car was registered in their name as a Showroom Demonstrator on 14th August 1961 and with the number plate that it wears today 5 VPH.

It is finished in its original colour scheme of Opalescent Dark Green Metallic with a Suede Green Leather interior and Green carpets, lovely Burr Walnut wood trim and dashboard, period Motorola radio, its original Steering Wheel and Chrome Wire Wheels. It has the narrow wheel arch spats fitted to the rear wings, but the original larger spats do come with the car.

The original Buff Log Book indicates that it was sold by them to a Mrs Kathleen Maitland in Cookham Dean, Berkshire in January 1962 and it had a further 5 owners before we sold the car in July 2009 for the previous local owner of 19 years - Mr John Blundell of East Sheen, London to the current Dutch owner who also lived locally to our showrooms.

It has a very interesting history as the previous owner John Blundell was the Art Editor of Classic & Sports Car magazine and he wrote many articles including a piece in C & SC on Bruce Reynolds - who was the mastermind of the Great Train Robbery, and his Jaguar MKII - 5 VPH was also used on the front cover of his book - 'Autobiography of a Thief' published in 2011 of which a copy is contained within the history file. It was been maintained meticulously by John Blundell during his ownership with works including body repairs, routine servicing with new parts as and when required plus it had a full engine rebuild by in 1998 when the speedometer was reading 12,273 (now 62,192) and all invoices for works are contained in the history file.

When the current owner bought the car from us in 2009 the speedometer reading was 41,926 and he has driven almost 20,000 miles in the car since. During his ownership, he had the car maintained by local company - Mastercar Ltd in Kew, and after moving back to Holland 10 years ago, he drove the car back every year for them to carry out an MOT and service and carry out repairs as required. There are lots of invoices from them totalling £20,210 and works have included new rear suspension leaf springs, rebuilt carburettors, a new Clutch in 2022, chassis welding with new front cross member, gusset panel and crows foot panel, new jacking points, new subframe bushes, wishbone and ant-roll bar bushes, gearbox mountings, panhard rod bushes, bodywork repairs to doors, wings and scuttle panel and repainting as required plus much more.

The car comes with its original handbook and workshop manual, it original Buff Log Book with full ownership history, invoices and receipts from 1990 through to current, MOT certificates and history + 2 x Jaguar Heritage Certificates, a car cover and unusually it also comes with a complete original Tool Box. It is not in concours condition or totally perfect, but it is very nice throughout and drives beautifully.

It will be sold with the number plate 5 VPH which was on the car when first registered back in August 1961 and recently valued by Reg Transfers @ between £7,500 - £10,000 although it is part of the car's history having been on it from new and it would be a real shame for it to be taken off.

We have also included a couple of photographs which were posted on Piston Head's 'General Gassing' forum in 2022 showing the car in the car park at Heathrow Airport back in the late 1960's.

A fabulous example which drives beautifully and it is unusual to have a history file like this car has. Definitely a car to buy and keep!

Upon sale the car will receive a pre-sales service and new MOT and it will come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.

Car on Display @ our showrooms.
