DAIMLER DOUBLE SIX 1993

The Daimler Double Six is the trade name for the higher-specification version of the Jaguar XJ12. The presented example belongs to the "XJ81" series, denoting the variant equipped with a twelve-cylinder engine. Only around 2% of the total XJ40 production was fitted with this engine, of which approximately one thousand units left the factory as Daimlers. The 6.0-liter engine under the bonnet is an evolution of the previous 5.3-liter version and is considered the best and most refined incarnation of Jaguar’s V12 (311 hp and 460 Nm).

This car was originally ordered new in Switzerland and was first registered in January 1994. Abroad, it was owned by one of the proprietors of Zanotta, a company known for producing designer furniture. The car was imported to Poland in 2017 and is currently in the hands of its second owner. The Daimler has always been garage-kept, and the bodywork shows no signs of corrosion. Servicing has been carried out regularly at reputable workshops using original parts.

The Daimler has been tastefully configured. The exterior is finished in Regency Red, which pairs beautifully with the light Cream Autolux leather upholstery and Burr Walnut wood trim, which also adorns the steering wheel (a special-order option). Electric controls include the windows, mirrors, sunroof, and seats—these also feature memory functions and heating elements. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated folding tables and additional lighting. The audio system comprises an RDS radio with cassette player, CD changer, and 8 speakers. Automatic climate control ensures a comfortable journey.

On the outside, the car stands out with its unique alloy wheel design, chrome trim, and the distinctive Daimler badging along with decorative fluting on the grille and boot panel. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission with an additional “Sport” mode, and the differential is of the limited-slip type (commonly referred to as “LSD”). The car comes with a Certificate of Authenticity issued by the Jaguar Heritage Trust.
