1980 | Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce

The Alfa Romeo Spider was produced from 1966 to 1993 and is widely regarded as a design classic. It remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The final Alfa Romeo Spider, and the last rear wheel drive vehicle produced before the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione debuted in May 2012, was produced in April 1993. The first presentation of the car, as a prototype, was at the Turin Motor Show in 1961; however, the continuing success of existing models and the economic challenges facing Italy at the time meant that the first pre-launch Spiders only began to emerge from the Pininfarina production line at the end of 1965.

This stunning Alfa Romeo Spider was purchased and imported by our vendor from the well-known classic car specialists Gallery Aldering in 2021 after an exhaustive search for the very best example. Presented in Pininfarina Bianco with all new trimmed chocolate brown stitched trim and matching mohair hood. This left hand drive example has been subject to extensive restoration and fabulous retrim on what is believed to be a low mileage example in the first instance with the odometer showing a mere 36,034 kilometres (22,390 miles). Used in the summer months only with circa 400 miles a year, the car remains (in a heated) garage when not in use and when inspected it fired up at first time and ran beautifully. Earlier this year a full service and recommissioning was undertaken ready for the summer by specialists to the tune of £3,500, continuing the no expense spared ownership. Offered with a good history file, three keys, original books, an interior red Alfa Romeo car cover and a waterproof external cover, V5 registration document, modern stereo, MoT exempt and in really beautiful order, this is a very desirable and achingly pretty Italian sportscar.
