History of the Trident Venturer
Trident Cars Ltd., founded in Ipswich in 1965, initially emerged from the situation of TVR's financial struggles. The Trident Venturer debuted in 1969 as one of just three models created by the small British marque. Its production was interrupted in 1974 due to economic difficulties and shortage of Ford V6 engines, caused by strikes at Ford. A brief restart attempted in 1976 saw only a few additional cars completed before the company closed for good in 1978. Altogether, around 130 Tridents were produced, with fewer than 50 of these being Venturers.
Model History
Directly following the sportier Trident Clipper, the Venturer was intended to be a more refined, practical GT vehicle, still delivering strong performance. The predecessor, Clipper, was V8-powered and had a racier image.
