HISTORY / DOCUMENTATION
Like most examples, this Triumph TR6 was originally delivered in the sunny climate of California (USA). In 1998 it was imported into the Netherlands, where it underwent a full body-off restoration. As a result, it is a very clean and rust-free example, finished in a classic color combination. In the Netherlands, the car has had only two owners. The Triumph comes with a folder full of documentation, including manuals, maintenance invoices, valuation reports, and registration papers (dating back to 1989!). In 2018, the TR6 was appraised at a value of €35,000.
EXTERIOR
A true sight to behold: the beautiful lines of the TR6 in a classic and highly desirable color scheme. The car is finished in British Racing Green, which pairs elegantly with the beige (imitation leather) upholstery, wood trim in the interior, and shiny wire wheels. Both the paintwork and the chrome, rubber seals, and lights are in excellent and fresh condition. The black mohair soft top is of high quality and also in excellent condition. At the front, Hella spotlights have been fitted. At the rear, a luggage rack is installed. Union Jack emblems proudly adorn the sides.
INTERIOR
The interior has also been renewed and is therefore in excellent condition. The beige upholstery is finished in beige (imitation leather), and the dashboard is beautifully trimmed with wood. The upgraded seats feature headrests. The floor is covered with elegant green carpeting. The soft top can be stored under a tonneau cover. A wind deflector adds extra comfort while driving. The interior also includes a heater and a Philips radio player. The trunk is neat and, under the double floor, offers space for the spare wheel.
TECHNICAL
Mechanically, the car has been well maintained. The 2.5-liter 6-cylinder engine and gearbox were overhauled in 2002. The engine was converted to run on unleaded fuel and features SU carburetors with K&N filters. The cylinder head is fitted with a light-alloy valve cover. Additionally, a Lumenition electronic ignition and stainless steel exhaust system have been installed. Other technical upgrades include an alarm system, immobilizer, and a larger self-regulating cooling fan (with temperature sensor). Furthermore, new piston rings, new core plugs, refurbished cylinder heads, new head gaskets, a new water pump, and a new thermostat have been fitted. The chassis is damage-free and, as far as can be seen, has never been welded. Extensive documentation of the restoration and engine overhaul is included.
GENERAL
The Triumph TR6 is a sports car produced by the British car manufacturer Triumph between 1968 and 1976. It succeeded the Triumph TR5 and was built as a convertible with a folding roof. The TR6 was a popular car thanks to its sporty looks, solid performance, and relatively affordable price. It was powered by a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine. The TR6 was also one of the first cars to come standard with disc brakes on all four wheels. In total, more than 94,000 TR6s were produced, making it one of Triumph’s best-selling models ever. Today, the TR6 remains a popular car among collectors and classic car enthusiasts.
