A Toyota Land Cruiser is what many classic vehicles claim to be - but rarely are: an icon. Produced since 1951, it has earned its reputation for extreme durability, longevity, and off-road capability, proven countless times in the deserts of Africa or the Australian Outback. A true world vehicle – almost without equal.
Many Land Cruisers were exported to the USA – including this pickup version. And rightly so, as it fits the American landscape perfectly: a workhorse with plenty of power under the hood, essentially the off-road equivalent of a muscle car.
The Land Cruiser offered here underwent a complete restoration in South Carolina between 2017 and 2018. Over 2,000 hours were invested in the rebuild, with the new paintwork applied in its original factory color. The inline six-cylinder engine was fully disassembled and comprehensively rebuilt. Around 750 photos document the entire restoration process. The final result is a vehicle that, according to a Classic Data short appraisal, is in condition 1 (–).
In early October 2018, the restorer sold the Land Cruiser to a physician in Hamburg. In 2022, it received a new TÜV inspection in Germany, along with H-plate (historic vehicle) registration. At the end of September of the same year, the current consignor acquired the vehicle and displayed it temporarily at Motorworld Munich. The vehicle has now been customs cleared in Switzerland and can be presented for registration there without any issues as a veteran vehicle. There should be no obstacles to obtaining veteran status.
