Description

For Opel connoisseurs and enthusiasts: original Kadett GT/E coupé of the 1000 series!

In 2023, one of the most popular and successful Opel model series celebrated its fiftieth birthday: the Opel Kadett C. In the summer of 1973, the third post-war generation of the Kadett made its debut with a modern design and fresh technology. Not to forget: a wide range of body variants from which Kadett customers could choose. Whether two- or four-door saloon, three- or five-door caravan or coupé. The third-generation Kadett was to leave nothing to be desired. Customers responded with satisfaction and more than 1.7 million Opel Kadett Cs were sold.

Particularly sought-after then as now: the rare representatives of the so-called "1000 series" of the Kadett C GT/E, which was presented at the IAA in September 1977. The 85 kW/115 hp sports car served as a homologation model for motorsport in accordance with Group 1 regulations, which stipulated a small series of at least 1000 vehicles. On board the top model was a 2.0-litre engine with electronic petrol injection and 85 kW/115 hp, a crisp ZF 5-speed gearbox, a sportily tuned and reinforced chassis with gas pressure shock absorbers, a limited slip differential and 175 tyres on 6 J x 13-inch forged alloy wheels. On the outside, a standard two-tone paint finish, halogen headlights and a front and rear spoiler set sporty accents. Inside the GT/E, sports instruments, sports seats and a 3-spoke sports steering wheel create a motorsport ambience. A top speed of 190 km/h - a sports car level for the time - rounded off the image of the desirable coupé. Opel's advertising people were obviously also aware of this, as they advertised the GT/E of the limited series with the words "by professionals for professionals".

If you are looking for an original Opel Kadett C from the "1000 series", you should shortlist the GT/E offered by me on behalf of a customer. The Kadett, which was first registered in September 1978, is currently in 4th hand and has been extensively and professionally as well as lovingly restored. The documentation for the vehicle shows that almost every screw and every movement has been documented and neatly filed in paper form since 1987. In addition to evidence of regular maintenance, the documents also show that the Kadett was fitted with a complete Lexmaul bodywork package, sports suspension and original BBS-RS-072 rims in the early 1990s. There are also invoices for the associated paintwork.

To date, tens of thousands of euros have been invested in the preservation and optimisation of this rare classic car. The Kadett GT/E is a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of the rare 1000 series in a package with two further folders (complete repair manuals for the Kadett) and various spare parts and accessories. Not least because this fountain of youth "Made in Bochum" will give its new owners pleasure for a long time to come thanks to a comprehensive restoration of bodywork and technology in 2009.
