Description

Designed by Gérard Ducarouge, who masterminded Jackie Stewart’s 1969 World Championship glory and Matra’s hat-trick of Le Mans wins, the MS120 was the last Matra Grand Prix car ever built by the Parisian factory team. Designed and built to the same stunning aviation standards of the World Championship-winning MS80 DFV, the MS120 was now powered by the screaming factory V12 engine, widely regarded as the greatest sounding engine of the era.

Chassis MS120C-06 was driven exclusively by the hugely talented ex-works Ferrari driver, Chris Amon, who had recently won the Daytona 24hr for the Scuderia and the Le Mans 24hr for Ford. 5th and 6th places at the French and Belgian Grand Prix didn’t reflect the speed of Amon and the French blue Matra, although he did go onto win the 1971 Argentinian GP in the sister car. Chassis 06 also has practice and race history at the following Grand Prix through 1971 and '72: Monaco, Dutch, French, British, German, Italian, Canadian, United States, Argentinian, South African, Spanish.

Today the MS120-06 is a potential race-winner and invite to the fabulous Monaco Historic Grand Prix – its speed shown last year with a 2nd place overall, run by the ROFGO Racing Team – beaten only by the fellow ROFGO McLaren M19A. The car has been subject to a total analysis by Venture Engineering, who have created solutions for any parts deemed unreliable, making this MS120 both the fastest, most reliable, and best prepared example anywhere in the world. The car comes complete with spare wheels, nose and a complete spare zero-miles V12 race engine.

Surely the greatest sounding Grand Prix car of the 1970s - what could be better than racing a French Ferrari around the streets of Monte Carlo...
