• Incredibly low mileage
• Manual example with overdrive

Launched in September 1968, the Jaguar XJ6 was the final model that Sir William Lyons had a hands-on input into the design. This new model was the result of several years of development and streamlined the extensive portfolio of models offered by Jaguar at the time. This new, reasonably priced car, managed to retain the principles of earlier Jaguars but offered a new level of driveability and safety. It created such a desire that second-hand models were achieving higher prices than new cars on dealership forecourts, such was the demand. These early models have outstanding ability and are considered by many enthusiasts as the purist form of Sir William Lyons' design.

This time warp example of the collectable Series I XJ6 is presented in white coachwork with an excellent red leather trim. A desirable manual with overdrive example and having covered a remarkable 17,300 miles from new, it is naturally in very good condition. BDW 504L was chauffeur driven for its first five years and according to a letter from the original owner's son detailing the cars early history, it was then stored but exercised regularly before being sold. It was later sold by the Robert Hughes dealership on two occasions and stored by them in-between. Our vendor states that to his knowledge the car is rust free having been Waxoiled and is still wearing its original four Jaguar mudflaps, he also commented that the car drives very well and was fitted, from new, with toughened piston rings to avoid the problems of the early 2.8's.

Reviewing the history file, it appears every service and repair document is present along with appropriate MoT test certificates which verifies the mileage. Also included in the file are two separate Classic magazine articles, books, manuals and a choice of two rearview mirrors as the current owner couldn't decide which to use. This is a fabulous example for a collector or enthusiast and is sadly being sold due to the manual box affecting our vendors arthritis. Offered with a current MoT certificate and Historics tax status, boasting a recent £4,500 carb rebuild and new power steering box viewing is highly recommended. Consigned by Mathew Priddy
